Wet

Wet

Wet was created by experimenting with the Feedback Organ circuit. I simply replaced the speaker inside the feedback organ with a reverb tank when my friend Sourcery Studios was visiting. We both marveled at the sound and started switching out capacitors to get a bunch of different tones from it (thats why it has a rotary switch that just goes between different capacitors).

In the Wet V.2 edition I gave Wet a dry signal path, so you can blend. I also introduce a feedback loop so you can make the springs tank sing all by itself!

Wet User Guide

The pedal uses 9VDC power (2.1mm jack: center-negative).

Input is on the right side (black ring) and output is on the left (white ring).

Info:

Wet is a spring reverb. Created during my development process of the Feedback Organ. I simply took the circuit I had created for the speaker in that project and replaced the speaker with a spring tank. It just worked! So then I started expereimenting a whole bunch and came up with this unique take on a completely Wet spring reverb.

Since I’ve always wanted to make a spring reverb that is very "touchable" I came up with a design that puts the springs just a plexi glass away (for safety).

Triple Bypass:

This pedal uses a unique bypass switching system that I call "Triple Bypass", where you have three different "modes" for turning the pedal on and off:

  1. Short Press: Works like any regular pedal. Press to turn it on and then press to turn it off.
  2. Momentary/Hold: If you press and hold for about 1-2 seconds the pedal will enter a hold mode. Here it will simply stay in the state it entered when pressing down the button, for however long you decide to hold down the button, and then return when you release the button. So if you press down when the pedal is turned OFF it will stay ON for as long as you hold the button pressed down, and vice versa.
  3. Tap Tempo Bypass: If you quickly double tap the bypass button (either when on or off) the pedal will enter the "Tap Tempo Bypass" mode. Here the pedal automatically turns itself on/off in whichever tempo you tap. So to change tempo you simply tap a new tempo.

N.B. Weird continuously counts the time since your last tap. So if you have been in a tempo for some time and give the footswitch another single tap, it will set your new tempo based on the time between the pervious tap and the new tap - upto a maxium length of around 1min.

To exit "tap tempo bypass" you simply press and hold the button for about 2 seconds. Note that when exiting this mode the pedal will be ON (regardless of if the pedal is in an OFF or ON state).

Controls:

The controls are very simple and basically just let you decide the setup of different sections of the circuit - before and after the springs - that give you a lot of different results!

The top "V" knob is your volume control. Since Wet can be VERY LOUD (watch out for the "B" knob) the volume knob is your saviour on a hot day.

The "C" knob is a rotary switch that changes a capacitor value on the signal going into the spring tank. This affects tone greatly but also level and distortion.

The "O" knob lets you set an amount of overdrive on the signal that goes into the spring tank.

The "B" knob (I on the first edition) is your boost control. It boosts the signal after the spring tank and can get very loud and ‘clippy’, which sounds really cool!
