Weird v1
Weird is weirdly related to Disco Distortion. After I had made a circuit that lights up an LED when you play I figured I should see what happens if I take the delay experiments I had done with an LDR (see Möist) and attatch the light-up-when-you-play-a-sound circuit to it. The result is really weird. A sort of envelope follower time machine. Which becomes a really weird pitch shifter also?
Since the delay can jump drastically to be very long (as long as you are playing) and then immediately jump back (when you stop playing) to being short, the magic is kind of stuck in the time it takes to jump.
Weird v1 User Guide
The pedal uses 9VDC power (2.1mm jack: center-negative).
Controls:
From top-to-bottom:
The “X” knob is your MIX control. From dry only, to introducing delay, to slight boost/overdriving of the delay lines.
The “F” knob is your Repeats/Feedback control. Max it fully clockwise to make your pedal oscillate by itself (more so with shorter delay times), or dial it back for your own perfect sweet spot of delay.
The “T” knob is your Delay Time control. Counterclockwise for shorter delay times and clockwise for longer delay times. It works together with the “Star” control. So based on your input volume it can push the PT2399 chip too far, which will simply cut the signal. In that case, just dial back the time control to find your sweet spot.
The “Star” knob is your input sensitivity control. It goes from crazy to way crazier! Work with your input volume and see what happens. Basically, it makes the delay longer when it’s registering audio and shorter when silent. Meaning that the delays will wobble and change pitch based on dynamics. Makes for some very weird effects.
Footswitch: Effect Bypass.
